George Roth 83, of Prineville, Oregon passed away January 26, 2010. No service will be held at this time. George was born November 3, 1926 in Morse Saskatchewan, Canada. His parents moved the U.S. when he was about two years old. The family settled in Portland, in the German-Russian area called Albina. He finished grade school and started “shagging” milk in his early teens. This lead George to became a Milk Man for many years. George also had many routes for cookies and potato chips. He delivered in the Portland, Vancouver and Oregon Coast areas. George was given the nicknames of “Dutch” and “The Cookie Man”. He married Viola Job in 1957. They traveled a lot after his early retirement and they moved to Prineville, Oregon in 1994. After Violas death in 1995, he sold their home and decided to travel some more. During this time George still loved to travel but kept his trips to the Quartsite, Arizona and Ocean Park, Washington areas. He loved both areas!
George met Margaret Poff in 1998 and they became inseparable companions until his death. His hobbies included: Fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. George is survived by one remaining sister, Lillian Blake of Portland Or; his companion of ten years, Margaret Poff, of Prineville, Or; Two step-daughters, B.J. Kinman of Cathedral City, Ca; Selma Saunders of Woodenville, Wa; three grandchildren, Michell, Mike and Laurie. George also has several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. George will be truly missed by many. Contributions may be made to a charity of choice. |
