 Ruth Kathryn Cox Dubberke 87, passed away quietly at her home in Olympia on February 24, 2010. She was an avid gardener and loved working the dirt. Ruth was not a stranger to hard work and believed that one should feel deserving of their pay at the end of the day. She enjoyed morning dew and red roses. She attended school in Powell Butte and Crook County High School in Prineville, Oregon. Ruth K Cox was born in the early morning on June 27th, 1922 at home on the Lower Ochoco in Powell Butte, Oregon. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Samuel Rufus Cox and Bessie (Baba) Sherry Cox. Ruth's parents and siblings, all preceded her in death. Ruth's ancestors also include early Oregon members of the Grant and Moffitt families. Ruth Dubberke is survived by her Daughter, Carol (Hal) Dubberke Van Gilder. 5 grandchildren: Donna L Van Gilder, Shanna Van Gilder (deceased);Heidi (Russell II)Van Gilder Sheldon, Jonathan Van Gilder, Jason Van Gilder and 2 great-grandchildren: Hailey Sheldon and Russell Sheldon III. Ruth K Dubberke will be laid to rest next to her husband Vernon Robert Dubberke, who passed away November 3rd, 1985. There will be a viewing Friday March 5th from 2:00 to 5:00 at Whispering Pines Funeral Home in Prineville, Oregon. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 6th 2010, at Powell Butte Cemetery, Powell Butte, Oregon.
