Nancy Ellen Proctor

March 22, 1942 ~ April 21, 2017 (age 75)

The Piano Brothers

Nancy Ellen (Cottrell) Proctor, 75, of Prineville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 21 after her bout with cancer. Services will be announced at a later date.

She was born in Portland on March 22, 1942, to Jack Christopher and Audrey Gladys (Gilbreth) Cottrell. Nancy lived in the Portland area until 1987 when she moved to Marietta, Ga. Ten years later, in 1997, she moved to Goodlettsville, Tenn. She was blessed to reconnect with her high school love, Kenneth Allen Proctor, in 2004. They married and lived in Daphne, Ala., for 10 years. Nancy wanted to be closer to her children who lived in the Northwest, so she and Ken ventured to Prineville, where they have lived for the past four years.

Nancy and Ken loved to travel, whether it was on a cruise, a trip to another country or traveling in their motor home. They truly enjoyed their many interesting travels. Nancy loved fishing, gardening and crafting, and she was an excellent cook. Nancy was first and foremost a loving mother; she invested her life in the lives of all her children.

In 1978, Nancy made a profession of faith and accepted Jesus as her personal savior. Nancy's commitment to the Lord was inspirational; she was a woman of great faith and a true and faithful servant, inspiring many. Nancy cherished her relationship with God, her friends and her family. She was the epitome of Proverbs 31: 10-31, a virtuous woman.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Proctor, of Prineville; her children, Paul Wayne (Sharon) Thoensen, of Selah, Wash., Tammy (Jeff) Gainer, of Yorktown, Va., Tracy (Bobbie) Proctor, of Gloucester, Va., Tonya (Bill) Morgan, of New Hope, Ala., and Brenda Thoensen, of Prineville; her grandchildren, Kyle Maxwell, Coby Mudgett, Trey Proctor, Kaitlyn Gainer, Brittney Sutherland, Caeli Proctor and Bryce Henderson; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Emilee; two siblings, Jan (Ed) Brabham, of Pahrump, Nev., and Rex (Tessie) Cottrell, of Emerson, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her brother, Wayne Cottrell; her son, Chris Thoensen; and her grandson, John Paul Thoensen.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Hospice Prineville through Whispering Pines Funeral Home, 3168 NE Third St., Prineville, OR 97754.
